If you know me, birthdays are a really big deal.
And as they should be.
Last week was Jacob's 27th birthday.
We celebrated 4 September birthdays with friends at Tucanos.
I only wish it was acceptable to wear sweatpants to dinner
because I had to be rolled out of there.
After an 1 1/2 hours of gluttonous eating, we had after-dinner game night.Have you played Wipe Out on the Wii. Hilarious.
{This is how we look every game day.
Just kidding. The girl who lives downstairs asked if I was going to game.
I responded, "What game?"}
I responded, "What game?"}
Jacob's birthday landed on a Sunday which is kind of a bummer.
So we started celebrating on Saturday by riding our bikes up the canyon for a picnic.
(and by our, I mean bikes at my parent's house.)
It was beautiful weather. Not a cloud in the sky. Loved it.
In Primary we had class outside and had a mini party with cake-mix cookies.
So good. Seriously, kids were on their best behavior in weeks.
One of our kids said,
" Sister Benson, you should open a cookie shop."
I love compliments from 8-year-olds.
After church we had dinner with my fam: steak and potatoes.
Jacob's favorite.
For dessert we had ice cream cake.
Jacob requested it but then recanted because he thought it would be too hard.
Well... I like a challenge.
So earlier in the week I snuck off and made Jacob his ice cream cake.
It turned out great, if I do say so myself.
{the lighting is awful, but the taste was magical}
Happy birthday, my love. I am glad you were born!
You're such a sweet wife to do all of that for Jacob on his birthday. I love celebrating birthdays as well. I'm impressed by your ice cream cake. I don't trust myself to take on that though. Maybe you can give me some tips on it. :) Happy birthday Jacob!
